James K. Polk was the eleventh President of the United States, and the second President who called Tennessee home. Known as Young Hickory, Polk believed he was carrying on the mission of the founders, and of his idol, Andrew Jackson. In his one term as President, Polk quite literally reshaped the United States in ways that are still relevant, and controversial, to this day.
